Elégance Suites Hôtel - Ile de Ré
A wonderful experience for a couple's stay, with perfect service and a warm welcome. The restaurant is definitely worth trying. The spa room is spacious, and the terrace is lovely. E-bike rentals are very convenient. The massages and private spa treatments were truly enjoyable (the only slight drawbacks were the massage chairs and the overall upkeep), but it was still an excellent stay that we would love to repeat.
I booked a room for three days—I was happy to find a hotel right on the beach. But location isn’t everything. The customer service is a disaster. Upon arrival, when you ask if you can leave your luggage there while waiting for your room to be ready, they tell you to keep it with you because there’s too much luggage at the front desk, and they tell you you’ll have to come back to pick it up. Then, they call to let you know your suitcase is in your room, but you don’t receive any information—not even the breakfast time, nothing. My room wasn’t cleaned because the very limited staff was prioritizing check-outs. The breakfast isn’t up to the standard of a 4-star hotel—it’s more like an Ibis hotel. In fact, it’s pretty lousy, aside from its convenient location. But there are other hotels on the island’s beaches that are much more concerned with their guests than with profitability.

A complete success! The welcome was particularly noteworthy, as all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We have rarely received such a warm welcome.
As for the location, it is ideal and peaceful, just 50 meters from an unsupervised beach where we were able to take our dog. The beach is beautiful and everything is clean, which is always a pleasure.
We stayed in a "comfort" room, not the standard one. The room is indeed quite comfortable, as it has air conditioning and a small enclosed terrace (no view, but it's quiet and sunny). The bedding is good, and the walk-in shower is convenient for showering everyone, including the dog, after returning from the beach. If I had to nitpick, I would say that the curtains are worn and could use replacing, and the minibar was also nearing the end of its lifespan, as nothing came out fresh.
Regarding the hotel's amenities, the pool isn't large but perfectly adequate, and there are several pools, so guests naturally spread out among them.
Breakfast is above average in terms of quality. However, at €20 per person, we expected a bit more variety and new offerings over the course of a week: it was literally always the same buffet, with no changes during our stay.
The restaurant was a bit of a disappointment: the prices were quite high, with a premium positioning, but it didn't entirely convince us. The menu doesn't offer more mainstream options, and we missed the proper pool bar menu, aside from appetizer platters at lunchtime. This means that if you want to stay by the pool all day, you'll still have to leave the hotel to eat something other than sausage and tapas.
Finally, regarding housekeeping: we read in other reviews that some cleaning is done during the day rather than in the morning, as is the case in most establishments. That's true. But we didn't find it bothersome since the staff greets you as soon as you see them and respects your preferences. So, in our opinion, it wasn't a problem, as the room was always cleaned according to our schedule, except once in six days when we had to leave the dog in the room.
We will probably repeat our experience at this establishment on our next visit to Île de Ré!
